In a 19th century English ship-building village, a beautiful ship, due to lack of funds, is slated to be destroyed. A local girl, Tabitha, rallies her community in obtaining materials to finish ship's construction. She visits The Workshop, a magical place where all things are made.

A lovely, imaginative story of people working together, having adventures together, and overcoming difficulties. We meet an Ogre, an extremely ugly and unhappy man; Job, a very elderly artist with the heart of a boy; Madame, the stuffy French wife of the Master Shipbuilder; and many others from the village, besides the faerie folk from the Workshop.
