Free and inexpensive educational aids.

The use of free educational materials at all levels of learning has long provided a fruitful aid to classroom discussion, supplementary reading, individual projects, and vocational guidance. But few people realize the great wealth and quality of such material actually available. This book has been compiled to present the student, teacher, and audio-visual director, in college, high-school, elementary school, and adult education courses (and any other interested person) with an extensive listing. Nine percent of this material ranges from one cent to twenty-five cents in cost; three percent costs a little more; the remaining eighty-eight percent is absolutely free for the asking.
Originally published by Dover in 1960 and revised in 1962, this new, third (1966) revised edition has just been completely up-dated by the author: nearly one-third of the material is new; prices have been checked; all of the material is currently available and should continue to be so indefinitely. Over 1700 pamphlets, booklets, folders, charts, maps, and picture sets are listed. They are organized into 64 different categories, including mental health, first aid, office
practice, forest conservation and parks, atomic energy, dairying, music, dental care, fertilizer, petroleum, water, homes and home-making, language arts, guidance and career, government, and over 40 other important topics.
Individual items are listed alphabetically within categories, and each item is described as to contents, number of pages or running time, grade level from college to elementary, and other applications such as school administration, reference, etc. All material has been carefully judged by the author and a committee of other educators, who have included only material that is objective, educationally sound, and easily incorporated into discussion or research, and without political bias or company sales influence.
Third revised edition. List of companies and addresses. Index of audio-visual aids. General index.
