Before WE Butterworth became WEB Griffin and became famous for war and police novels, he wrote juvenile boys books, in three genre: car racing, career, and Vietnam. This is one of the latter, and not his best, but it's not bad. For those interested in what the 'war' was like from the Army aviation point of view, it's worth reading.
