Dr. Joseph Thekkedath was born on 27th January, 1928. He joined the Salesian Aspirantate at Tirupattur in 1943 and became a Salesian of Don Bosco on 21st December, 1945 at Dibrugarh. Fr. T.J. was ordained a priest on 8th December, 1955 and began his teaching career which continues even to this day over a span of 50 years. A former President of the Church History Association of India, he has been Rector of Kristu Jyoti College, and also Provincial of the Salesian Province of the Sacred Heart (Bangalore). The articles in this work focus on the general theme of the history of the church in India. In different ways, they throw light on the factors that led and influenced the growth of Christianity in the Indian sub-continent from a historical perspective.--cf. Introd.
