Edition Notes
Artist's book with 26 pop-out lowercase letters.
The strip is folded accordion-style to form 54 page surfaces, on every two of which is formed, by cutting of the paper, a lower-case letter of the alphabet (a-m on one side of the strip, n-z on the other). The ends of the strip are pasted to separate boards measuring 17 x 11 cm. Only the boards, title page, the page facing the title page, and the colophon contain printing.
"This edition of 'Alphabeta Concertina Minuscule' is limited to 600 copies, one hundred of which have been especially printed for Thomas Manss & Company, who were instrumental in preparing the artist's 'abc' designs ready for production. The book was printed, cut and creased and folded onto Heritage White paper and glued to Heritage Museum board (both are acid-free stocks) which were supplied by John Purcell Paper, London. The design and construction for this book have been used in both capital and lower-case letters in other Circle Press productions"--Colophon.
