About two thousand years ago the Romans were in charge in the south of the Netherlands. The Rhine formed the northern border of the Roman Empire: the limes. In the family exhibition Romans along the Rhine, young and old will discover what life along the border river looked like at that time.00 If you think that only soldiers lived in fortresses along the Rhine, you are wrong. The families of the soldiers also lived in the fortresses and the villages around it: women, children and servants. In addition, traders and craftsmen who did business with the army could be found here. In the exhibition you explore everyday life along the border. You see and hear stories about soldiers and families, building and cooking arts, games and entertainment, fraternization and quarrels. There is also a lot to do and discover for children, with games throughout the exhibition and an activity booklet full of assignments and brain teasers. Exhibition: Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, Leiden, The Netherlands (01.06.2020-28.02.2021).
Exhibition: Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, Leiden, The Netherlands (01.06.2020-28.02.2021).
