She designed Hearst Castle in San Simeon, the Bell Tower at Mills College in Oakland, YMCAs in San Francisco and Oakland, Wyntoon Estate in McCloud, and many other structures. This biography discusses her relationship with mentor Bernard Maybeck, a prominent architect and architecture professor. Included are interviews with Sara Holmes Boutelle, Gray Brechin, Lucia Howard, Allan Temko, Bjarne Dahl, William Randolph Hearst, Jr. and others.
