The intrusion of technology and electronic resources into the portals of library has made challenges and more challenges for library professionals of today. Coupled with this is the emancipation of users from the four walls of library making them more demanding and less satisfied with our age old tools and techniques. User wants the easiness with which they search and access an internet resource with library content also, irrespective of the form and format in which it is locally available. There are also various specialists encoraching into our professional territory, public relations officer, intellectual property expert, research analyst. Day by day the demands on libraries and librarians are on the rise, though they are being challenged on various aspects such as the operational freedom, procedural wrangles, non-library expert committees, funds, infrastructure, technology etc. No doubt library has a future only if librarians convert these challenges as assets in enriching the information experience of users.
