Bhagavad Gita

Yoga of Self Control

  • 1 Have read

We all love to Meditate. We have experienced its fruits, namely, calmness, detachment and serenity.

We all love to exercise Self Control. We follow some code of conduct, adhere to some discipline and stick to a value system. Why do we do it? What is the purpose? We observe the discipline because it steers our life on the track of success. Our experience shows there is a meaning to it and we can sense our victories and achievements are the result of such practices.

Why not hear what the Lord has to say about it? Why not see how the Divine wisdom fits in with our lifestyle and how we can inculcate just a little bit if we wish to.

Using the Bhagavad Gita as a guiding light, and it's 6th Chapter as the basis, this book portrays the wisdom in simple language for the ardent aspirant. The verses are in Devanagari and the commentary is in English. Also a free flowing Hindi translation is provided.

Excerpts

यो मां पश्यति सर्वत्र , सर्वं च मयि पश्यति ।
तस्याहं न प्रणश्यामि , स च मे न प्रणश्यति ॥ ३०
yo maa.m pa"syati sarvatra, sarva.m ca mayi pa"syati |
tasyaaha.m na pra.na"syaami, sa ca me na pra.na"syati || 30

He who sees Me everywhere and in all sees Me. Of him I shall not lose hold of, he shall not be separated from Me.

For the one who identifies this creation with the Lord, who sees all peoples, all phenomena, governments, religions, flora and fauna, scientific and material changes, news and entertainments; as part of godliness, as attributes of divinity – He shall not be forsaken.

What does it mean? How can anyone or anything ever be separated from the Lord in the first place?
AhA! This is the magic of the Magician. Such is the leela of the Divine. Separation is simply a notion, a temporary illusion. One may feel isolated at times, and that is the only sorrow in life. One may feel uncared for and thrown aside, that is the only dilemma in life.
