Title and imprint from colophon (2y8 recto): "Thus endeth the legende, named in Latyn Legenda aurea that is to say in Englysshe the golden legende. ... Whiche werke hath ben dilige[n]tly amended in diuers places where as grete nede was. Finysshed the xxvii daye of the August, the yere of our Lord MCCCCCxxvii the xix yere of the regne of our souerayne Lorde Kynge Henry the eyght. Imprynted at London in Flete strete at the sygne of the Sonne, by Wynkyn de Worde."

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy cataloged under call no. G.527.J15L bound in ca. 19th century calf triple panelled in blind. The spine is ruled in gilt with a black leather label title-stamped in gilt. The bookplate of the BPL James Lyman Whitney Fund is present on the front pastedown. A pencil inscription of collation is present on the verso of the front free endpaper, along with a laid-on dealer's description. The first leaf (A1) is supplied in facsimile. A2-A4 are remargined. Early marginalia is present throughout. The sections concerning Thomas of Canterbury (h4-h7, x3-x4) are struck out by an early hand. Numerous early inscriptions and autographs are present on the verso of the final leaf, including "William Kempe," "Henry[?] Hales," and others.

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy cataloged under call no. BX 4654.J332 1527 is a fragment that contains two leaves only (fol. Cxiv and fol. CCCviii). At the fore-edge and tail-edge of Cxiv are two ca. 16th-century English inscriptions, both trimmed-off. The two leaves are housed in a gray folder.
