Edition Notes
Holograph, signed.
In this letter, Sarah Pugh refers to a subject communicated by Maria Weston Chapman, which shall be laid before the Executive Committee. Sarah Pugh writes: "With us---as with you---there is great pecuniary pressure and our most liberal givers, as well as all others, feel it. We are looking forward to a year of difficulty for our own Society. Only two thirds as much paid from the Fair this year---as was paid last." Maria Weston Chapman's views on sending an agent to England appear to Sarah Pugh "now the true ones---unless stronger reasons could be given for it than have yet been."
