Healthy Nutrition
Common Sense – Not Rocket Science
Our selection of the food we eat, and the ways in which we prepare it are important components of our lives. These components have a major influence on several factors such as our vitality, health and weight.
Healthy eating has never been as easy as it is today. The range of food items on offer is not only ample in terms of quantity, but enormous, in terms of variety.
Our consumption of food also involves its appeal to our senses and feelings. The very purpose of food is increasingly no longer the mere in-take of nourishment, but rather a source of entertainment and diversion in its social aspect. Of course, it is much more convenient to regard food primarily as a factor in our 'joie de vivre'; however, each of us should also make it a habit to listen carefully to his or her body, and read the signals it sends out. We often do not understand today, the real meaning of concepts such as "hunger" "appetite" and "satiation". The perception of the serving size is also frequently strongly influenced by its abundance, while its relation to health issues recedes into the background. From the stand point of good health, it is not merely what we eat and how much we eat that counts but also the combinations of various foods and the sequence in which we consume them.
This publication should go a long way towards encouraging the reader to think about individual food items long before consuming them. In addition it will make the switch-over to healthy eating habits tasty and appetizing.
This book has been written in an easy-to-understand manner, for all those who would like to know some more about their daily nourishment.
