The book is about two indian boys and one old man,one of the boy was Abu and the other Omar. The name of the old man is Syed Bakr.Omar ran from his house in Tunisia as his father tried to kill him when he argued against his sister's marriage with a wicked man.Abu's father was lost and to find him out he wanted some money. There was a legend which Syed Bakr told Abu that just before the dawn after the full moon night the Octopus goes to find it's mate and this is the chance one can get the pearl but no one has ever tried to go because the dive has to be done in the dark. And at the same moment Abu decide that he would dive in the water and they dived(Abu and Omar). They got some pearls but this wasn't the amount Abu wanted,he again dived into the water, and both of them found an Octopus.Abu was very close to the Octopus and Omar thought that what he could do was just see his friend die,but a wonderful thing happened . Instead of killing Abu the octopus gave Abu the pearl and they both went up happily.
