"The plates have been prepared for the Trustees by Mr. William Griggs" - "Notice" (first leaf).

"These six plates are designed to illustrate the process of chromolithography as applied to reproductions from mediaeval illuminated manuscripts. ... In the last case the plate is followed by impressions from the whole of the twenty-four stones which were successively used in its preparation" - "Notice" (first leaf).
