Vol. 1 consists of the 21 original or reprinted parts, issued in 1818 in volume form. Cf. Hartley.

Added engraved title page in vol. 1, with vignette and imprint of G. Smeeton dated July 1812; the plates have imprints dated July 25, 1812 to May 1, 1813.

Vols. 2-3 have imprint: Printed for Sherwood, Neely, and Jones, Paternoster Row.

Vol. 1: [2], iv, 484 p., [21] leaves of plates (4 folded); v. 2: viii, 574 p., [6] leaves of plates; v. 3: viii, 640 p., [7] leaves of plates.

The plate at v. 1, p. 49 is by George Cruikshank after Robert Cruikshank; according to Cohn the plates at p. 412 & 423 are also by George Cruikshank and several others are by members of the family.

Other plates are by Hopwood and Percy Roberts after designs by George Sharples.

Several sheets in v. 1 are printed on blue paper.
