Each leaf consists of an etched illustration with engraved text.
Produced by Joseph Cundall as part of a series of 'Illustrated Present Books' (as they were called in advertisements). Cf. McLean, Ruari. Victorian book design and colour printing, 1972.
According to Ruari McLean, the wood-engraved ornaments on the t.p. and contents page were printed with Chiswick Press blocks. Cf. his notes at Massey College Library.

MASS copy: Bound in red coarse cord-grain cloth blocked in gold and blind; a.e.g. Central titling design blocked in gold on upper cover with signature: "AW" [i.e. Albert Henry Warren]. With binder's ticket: "Bound by Bone & Son, 76, Fleet St. London.". Central titling design was also used on the upper cover of McLean O 360, McLean O 647, McLean O 674, McLean O 675 and McLean O 676.
