Edition Notes
My Great-Grandmother, Lelia Alice (Mitchell) Hays, is referred to incorrectly in the book, "Genealogy of the descendants of John Walker of Wigton, Scotland," (p.508) as the "Miss Barry" who married my great-grandfather George Dillard Hays. BARRY, Illinois was her birth place, NOT her name. It should have been written correctly as the Miss. Lelia Alice Mitchell, who married George Dillard Hays. My Great-Grandmother, Lelia Alice (Mitchell) Hays, born 26 December 1873, BARRY, Illinois (daughter of James and Alice Mitchell of BARRY, Illinois), died 26 April 1907, Hannibal, Missouri (not long after the birth of her third child). Lelia Alice (Mitchell) Hays is buried at Park Lawn Cemetery, Barry Township, Pike County, Illinois. Her only husband, my great-grandfather George Dillard Hays (1872-1939), was the son of Andrew Collins Hays (1835–1908).
