A beautiful hand-illustrated 1934 book for new readers, say around 4-5 years old, about the revenge of a forest and its creatures on a man who cuts down all the trees to build a house. The man wears a bushy mustache and some truly magnificent checkered plus-fours, and there are rabbits and squirrels who break into his kitchen and nibble everything up! Good luck finding a copy though; this book is rare.
