"Note: A cheap edition was issued in October 1938 at 3s6d without the illustrations and with the word Illustrated blacked out by hand on spine of jacket. Some copies of this cheap edition (apparently those bound later) were bound in grey cloth lettered in red. These copies state "Cheap Edition 1938" on verso of title page and do not have the list of illustrations on page 6. They are in a pink dust jacket lettered in black with the word Illustrated blacked out on spine and with the price raised to 5s." -- Woolmer.
