THE SUCCESSOR was written by one of the prominent Kenyan writers, Francis D. Imbuga, a lecture, administrator and senior academician at the University of Nairobi. His book portrays the real African political system as full of struggle for power and unconstitutional succession of existing government leadership. Masero as a semi - modern empire in the contemporaray era is exemplified under the Emporer Chonda who had heired his father's throne. The childless leader suffers on how to get his successor. His cabinet members jeopardize each other in search of the hanging power. Chief Oriomra and Sasia plan to inserminate a faulse fault on Jandi in order to push him out the seniority list to succeed the throne.
The book opens by showing the divine helper, Dr. See Through as a traditional healer and a foreteller. His power is firstly revealed by Zira who had visited him to settle her pregnacy complication.
