"Goodbye, Mia," Cory said. He left without looking back.

Mia willed herself not to cry. After trying to escape for so long, now she was free. And, suddenly, she wasn't sure what she really wanted.

She had tried to put Cory out of her mind, to convince herself she didn't love him--but it was all in vain. The ache was there, and it would not go away.

Story starts when Mia's 'moneybags' Grampy sends Cory to rescue his long estranged granddaughter from a stepfamily of grifters who are holding her captive on an island and exploiting her in every way.

Naturally, she resents him every step of the way and makes a proper nuisance of herself during their escape on the high seas.

They end up in Mexico where Mia finally meets Gramps, puts the moves on Cory, and when rejected, decides to cloister herself in the local monastery, you know, as you do... face palm

A fire leads to life and death crisis and the avowals of 'true' luv. Fin.
