Dr David Robie is a New Zealand journalist and author who has wide international media experience with a special interest in the Asia-Pacific region. He has also held senior editorial posts with Agence France-Presse news agency in Paris, Rand Daily Mail in Johannesburg, Daily Nation in Kenya and the Sunday Observer in Melbourne. He is the author of eight books on Pacific media and politics. He was the 1999 Australian Press Council Fellow and in 2005 was awarded the PIMA Pacific Media Freedom Award. Formerly head of the journalism programmes at both the University of Papua New Guinea and the University of the South Pacific, Associate Professor Robie is currently director of the Pacific Media Centre, AUT University. He publishes the independent blog Cafe Pacific.
