Simone de Beauvoir

French philosopher, novelist, and essayist, the lifelong companion of Jean-Paul Sartre and vice versa. Beauvoir's two volume treatise Le deuxième sexe (1949, The Second Sex) is among the most widely read feminist works. (Source.)
