She was born in İzmir and after being graduated from Alsancak Gazi Elementary School and private İzmir Turkish College, she completed B.A at the Department of Architecture of Faculty of Fine Arts at Aegean University in 1977. She received pedagogy courses at the Instıtute of Social Sciences at the same university in 1978. Having completed her Master of Arts, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. M.Umit Sedaroğlu in Restoration Studies Program at Architecture Dep. of Faculty of Fine Arts at the Dokuz Eylul University, she commenced to working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture of Dokuz Eylul University. Meanwhile, she completed PhD in Turkish-Islamic Art and Architecture studies at the Dep. of History of Art at Faculty of Letters of Aegean University under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Rahmi Hüseyin Ünal .
Eser Gultekin was entitled to Dr. in 1999 and to Assoc. Prof in 2006. As she was lecturing at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dokuz Eylul University, she was nominated as ‘ Founder ’ Head of Architecture Dep. at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Akdeniz University on 9 June, 2008. She began to constitute the academic organization and finalized the appointments of academic teaching staff. She,then,initiated the academic education year in 2011-2012.

She’s done academic studies on Archeological Architecture, Sacred Architecture, Museum Architecture, Turkish-Islamic Art and Architecture, History of Architecture, Sinan the Architect and Architecture in his period, the Conservation of Cultural Inheritages, the concept of ‘ Conservation’, Architectural Conservation and Restoration, the Conciousness of Historical Environment, The Renovation and the Use of the Historical Buildings.

She knows English and German.
