“ Lt.Col B.N Majumdar joined the Indian Army in 1941. For over 4 years on active service in Middle East Command, Italy, Persia, Iraq and other Commands. He was the first Indian ever to join the Commandos and was an instructor in the Middle East Commando school. In India he served in various capacities as unit commander and staff officer and has varied experience of troop and staff duties. He is graduate of the Defence Service College.
In post war years Col. Majumdar went overseas to Korea with the Indian Custodian Force as the Chief Supply Officer & then to International Commission in Indo-China as Chairman of Logistic Committee of the Commission.
Col. Majumdar has many articles on military subjects to his credit. These articles are thought-provoking, have earned him the reputation as an outspoken officer and a specialist in military history and logistics. He has also written three books on military administration, which are much in demand.
Col Majumdar is regarded as the ‘coming man’ and may rise to high position in the course of his career. He is an outstanding instructor on military subjects, specially on military history and logistics.”

In 1986 on his death he left behind his wife Tripti and 3 children. In 2012 he is now survived by his two daughters, a son, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
