Completed in 1998, the AHRC is one of the most technologically advanced biocontainment facilities in the United States dedicated to studying a wide variety of infectious diseases affecting both animal and human health. The CVM established the John M. Bowen Award for Excellence in Animal and Biomedical Research in 1998 to annually recognize outstanding research by a junior member of the College's faculty. Dr. Bowen was coauthor of Successful Scientific Writing with Janice R. Matthews and Robert W. Matthews.
