A multi talented person, writing with warmth and humour about hardship and childhood in 1925/45 Southampton. Won an art scholarship but family poverty prevented uptake. It did not however stop her from painting in oils in later life. Also did patchwork, knitting, sewing, gardening and decorating the family home as well as working full time and bringing up her family. Did not like cooking!!
