Uwe Timm, nacido en Hamburgo (30 de marzo de 1940), es un afamado escritor alemán de literatura infantil y juvenil. Era el benjamín de la familia y su hermano falleció como soldado en Ucrania, más tarde plasmó su relación con su hermano y su padre a raíz de este hecho en su obra. Estudió filosofía en Múnich y París y militó en el partido socialista de su país.
