On the last day of the war, Davis was looking forward to some peace. However Bradford had other ideas. Together they had captured a Yankee wagon full of guns - and Davis knew the way to Mexico, where rebels were paying high prices for weapons. Davis only wanted to get back to his ranch in the Big Bend country and Bradford only wanted to stop him, as did the Yankees, the Mexican rebels and government troops.
