Book Details
First Sentence
"The first Cansler immigrants, arriving in Philadelphia in 1749, spelled their name Gentzler. It was pronounced Cansler, however, and later generations, at least those in the South, would spell it that way. Philp W. Gentzler brought his family from Pennsylvania to the piedmont of North Carolina in the fall of 1766. He and his wife Uly established a working farm on land that would eventually border the county seat of Lincolnton in Lincoln County. The homestead would stay in the Cansler family for over a century. This book attempts to track the lives of Philip and Uly, their ten children, and their descendents. Most Canslers in America today can draw their lineage through one of these ten children."
