This book is the direct outcome of my stay in India from 1960 to 1962, when I was a visiting fellow at Indian Statistical Institute,Calcutta. While doing an indepth study on entrepreneurship development , I found myself reasonably sympathetic of the prevailing Dirigisme Dogma with a futuristic optimism in the perspective dimension of India's growth. Professor P.C.Mahalanobis as an architect of Indian planning ,with whom I had opportunity of exchanging views quite often during my stay at his guest house , was a source of my futuristic perspectives . What I saw beamed in the mind of emerging group of modernizer cum entrepreneurs in industry were also full of emotionally justifiable optimism . This book was written at this point of time when India was about to move on to a controlled change for economic growth. It took just three decades when India has become unbound from the mal-development ideology , that is what was then popularly known as " a socialistic pattern of society".
