Poems in which the author employs language as music; he takes it to the extreme, and is mostly successful. Weatherly plays consonant and vowel sounds as musical notes; syllables are chords in his system. Most of his poems are improvisations around a sonic semantic melody; sometimes an original one, but often a line from others or from his poems. He has done several improvisations with the sonic semantic melody line "never muted heart." Two improvisations on "never muted heart" are in this book.
