"Joseph Dimock [1768-1846] was the first Baptist minister born (1768) and ordained (1793) in Canada." He was a direct descendant of Thomas Dimock, who immigrated from England to Barnstable, Massachusetts in 1637. Joseph was born at Falmouth, Nova Scotia, married Betsy Dimock (d.1839), and was survived by ten sons and daughters. He served his ministry chiefly in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, but spent some time in New England as well. Included is a listing of the marriages performed (p. 109-137) at Chester, Nova Scotia.
