Edition Notes

The first part, Common sense, is a translation of "Le bon sens, ou Ide es naturelles oppose es aux ide es surnaturelles", by Baron Holbach, also published with title "Le bon sens du cure J. Meslier". The second part, "Abstract of the Testament of John Meslier", was first published by Voltaire in 1761. cf. Voltaire, par C. Bengesco; Le libertinage, par F. Lache vre, v. 7, p. 227-246; Que rard, etc.
