First Sentence

"DURING THE COURSE OF A DAY, ONE MAN WILL SPEAK TO A room full of grade-school children about the dangers of drugs; two women will intervene in a domestic violence dispute, eventually leading a brutal man off to jail and initiating the process that sends the woman and her children to a shelter and safety; a man and a woman on bicycles will cruise a family neighborhood, keeping sidewalks clear of loiterers and making it safe and easy for the neighbors to shop, walk, and conduct the business of their day."
