Caption title.
Newspaper clipping from the Richmond dispatch, April 1, 1885, mounted on [8] p. in a bound volume. Signed at end: R.D.W.
Concerns the case of William Grayson, indicted by the Circuit Court of Culpeper for the murder of David W. Miller in April, 1849. He was found guilty and sentenced to death. The case was brought up to the General Court, which ruled that the evidence against Grayson was insufficient to warrant the verdict. Before another writ of error could be obtained, Grayson was removed from jail by an armed mob and hung.
