These Proceedings contain the papers presented at the
Second International Conference and Exhibition on Engineering
Software held at Imperial College, London during the period
March 24th-26th 1981. The large number of papers submitted
made the selection of the contributed papers a difficult task.
It was with regret that many papers had to be rejected but I
wish to thank the authors concerned for sending their papers
for consideration.
In the last decade the impact of computers on engineering
has been considerable. Many engineering techniques are now
totally dependent upon computers . The papers in this book have
been contributed by authors from many countries and constitute
a comprehensive review of the use of computers in engineering.
The papers have been in the main divided into application areas
with the exception of the Techniques, and Application of Microcomputer
Systems sessions. The first of these sessions covers
new aspects of software design and numerical methods and the
latter cover the considerable impact of microcomputers on
enginee ring.
