"First editions in an entirely unopened, uncut copy which is well preserved. Max Delbruck (1906-1981), Lise Meitner's assistant at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institut in Berlin, colaborated with Nikolai V. Timofeeff-Ressovsky in a fundamental paper in molecular biology on the "target theory" (Ueber die Natur der Genmutation und der Genstruktur, 1935). A paper which has been called a.o. the "Dreimannerarbeit" comparable to that of Heisenberg-Jordan-Born a decade earlier. Delbruck emigrated tothe USA in 1937 on a Rockefeller grant to work at the renowned CalTech at Pasadena. A couple of years later his fundamental paper on "The growth of Bacteriophage" appeared in print for the first time. A paper which became a basis of modern genetics.
