Edition Notes
Creeley completed this work in summer 1992. "The provocation had been a younger [unnamed] composer's interest to complete a triad of Poe's works, and our incidental meeting led to my working in this altogether unanticipated way, so as to provide the final third of his required texts." Cf. R. Creeley, introductory note, in A.R. Thomas. Ligeia / libretto by Leslie Dunton-Downer ; music by Augusta Read Thomas ..., c1994, p. 4-5.
Based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story, Ligeia, originally published in American museum, 1838.
This work first appeared in TO magazine, Summer 1995. Cf. colophon.
Designed and printed by Phillip Gallo at the Hermetic Press.
"Of 135 copies the first thirty-five are press numbered and are hors commerce": colophon.
LC copy is no. 100; author's and artist's autograph copy.
