Edition Notes

The print printing of the details of the Indian captivity in the words of the captive. There were earlier accounts of it in Antonio Decalves' [pseud.] New travels to the westward; and his Travels to the westward, between the years 1788-1805; and in James Van Leason's A narrative of a voyage, 1801.

All parts of Decalves' accounts were false except for the Vandeleur captivity, which is true.-cf. Vail, R.W.G. Voice of the old frontier, 1949, p. 341.
