Gladys Aylward (1902-1970) is known as "The Little Woman" or "Virtuous One" who was a missionary to China for many years. At the beginning of her tenure, Gladys joined a seasoned missionary widow to run an inn where, in the evening, they would entertain their guests with stories from the Bible. Gladys also began taking children into her home, and soon she had an orphanage with about 100 children. Her autobiography is titled Gladys Aylward: The Little Woman. The 1958 film Inn of the Sixth Happiness, is loosely based on events from her life. Gladys died in Taiwan at age 67 of pneumonia. - Amazon.com.
