The Free Briton regularly opposed the Craftsman; in this case both branched into extraordinary numbers to continue the dispute about the "Irish recruits." The Whig Craftsman believes the Irish troops to have Jacobite leanings & therefore to be a danger;the ministerial Free Briton discounts that. The Craftsman Extraordinary in question is reprinted in: The Craftsman. By Caleb D'Anvers, of Gray's-Inn, Esq... London, R. Francklin, 1731-1737 (Bond B42 v. 7 pp. 160ff.), where it is subscribed "D.C."
