Captain Sutton was charged with "disobeying the verbal orders and public signals of the said Captain Johnstone, in not causing the cables of His Majesty's ship Isis ... to be cut or slipped immediately after his getting on board in order to put to sea after the enemy [i.e. the French fleet, Praia Harbor, São Tiago, Cape Verde Islands, April 16, 1781]"
