A comparison of Soviet and American retail prices in 1950

A summary of previous work on the retail prices of food and manufactured goods, respectively. It is shown that in 1950 the retail purchasing power of the ruble was on the order of 5 or 6 cents, andsthat the real wage rate in the Soviet Union was 12 to 16 per cent of the real wage rate in the United States.
