A collection of the suites of engravings (some folded) published by Samuel and Nathaniel Buck of ruins and historical architecture in England and Wales grouped by region; many of the engravings (variously dated) are paired with the original watercolor drawings. Bound in four volumes in 19th century red gilt morocco by J. Clarke; v. 4 bound oblong (34 x 45 cm).

427 engraved views of castles and abbeys, 83 engraved views of towns, and 128 original drawings.
Includes An Index map to Buck's Antiquities dated Sept. 1802 and an engraved portrait of Samuel and Nathaniel Buck, dated 10 April, 1774 (both in v. 1) and subscription lists for each suite.
The published suites first appearred annually in parts without titles and were republished with the collective title: Buck's Antiquities or Venerable Remains of above 400 Castles, etc. Some copies of the republication contain a version of the Index map dated 1774.

A.ℓ.s. laid in: Mr. Buck ... has laid out the drawings, etc., that were not published (for the inspection of those who may like to purchase them) as he designs to part with them and sooner the better. I remember you look'd 'em all over in the Temple, and did not like the over value that was then sett on them by my bro'. I greatly wish to know what you wo'd please to give for them now.
