Edition Notes
May be pages 219-309 taken from the Scribner authorized edition of Plays, Second series, by Benavente, published in New York in 1919.
"First presented by the Compañía Guerrero-Mendoza at the Teatro Español, Madrid, on the evening of the thirteenth of April, 1905"--[page 219].
Ownership signature in pencil under printed play title on page [219]: Property of Nance O'Neil, 105 West 55th N.Y.C. Nance O'Neil was Mrs. Alfred Hickman.
Note in ink on first blank leaf before page [219]: Alfred Devereux-Hickman's prompt-book which was to have been used during one contemplated production of the play in the fall season of 1922. One of the other Benavente plays was done instead. The note appears to be signed in the same hand at the bottom of that page: N. ON New York 1933. There is a bookplate with an image of birds flying through clouds pasted inside the front cover of the loose-leaf binder: In memory of Alfred Devereux-Hickman.
Cut from Benavente's Plays, Second series?; annotations throughout in pencil.
Disbound, with interleaved pages in looseleaf binder with black covers.
