Balloon-borne mass spectrometer measurements of the constituents of the atmosphere to 28 kilometers

To determine the feasibility of making mass spectrometric measurements of the lower atmosphere, balloon flights have been made to an altitude of 28 km with a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Composition measurements were obtained, and some of the problems of extending the range and accuracy of measurements resolved. (Author).
