"Though it is not to issue from the press under the immediate sanction of the University of Pennsylvania, yet it will constitute a 'Thesaurus medicus' of that institution" - Preliminary discourse.

Each thesis has special half title, including thesis note.

Vol. 1 includes as appendix An experimental inquiry, respecting the vitality of the blood (p. [353]-395) by Charles Caldwell, comprising three lectures delivered at the infirmary of the Philadelphia Almshouse. The prefatory note is dated Jan. 1, 1805.
