Edition Notes
Title from TEI header.
The title page of this text attributes its translation to Sister Magdalen Augustine, which according to ESTC is the religious name of Catherine Bentley. However, the author, Luke Wadding, in another place apparently attributes the translation to Sister Catherine of St. Magdalen (i.e. Elizabeth Evelinge). See Allison and Rogers, Contemporary printed literature of the English Counter-Reformation between 1558 and 1640, Scolar Press, 1994.
