At the time of this interview, in 1999, Nancy Brown Tysor was working at the Farmer's Alliance Store in Siler City, North Carolina. Tysor has spent her entire life in Chatham County, and in this interview she describes some of the changes she has seen from behind the counter. These changes include an aging population and an influx of big-box retailers, both of which are altering the face of Siler City. This interview offers a brief portrait of a community struggling with new challenges as its young people depart.
